Kwara State government has vowed to sanction erring health workers involved in professional misconduct in the state's health sector. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam dropped the hint while reacting to the reported missing umbilical cord and placenta of a new born baby at a cottage hospital in Iloffa, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of the state.
recalls that about five medical staff of the Iloffa Cottage Hospital have been accused of alleged unprofessionalism in the controversy over an improperly handled placenta, which has caused some concerns in the Iloffa community. The case has since been under investigation by the Nigeria Police in Ilorin. The Commissioner disclosed that 'the state ministry of health has commenced its internal investigation into the matter and will ensure that justice is done at the end of both processes.
