Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state on Saturday announced plans by the state government to legally empower traditional rulers in the state to assist in ending the construction of houses on water ways

He said’’ land officers at the local government level are to blame for some of the indiscriminate sales of plots of land leaving new settlements without access roads’’. He noted that the event at Jibiya was meant to commence the fulfillment of the state government’s responsibilities in the resettlement action plans for four project sites, which include the payment of compensation to all the persons affected by the project.
