A downpour, coupled, whirlwind, which lasted about three hours on Thursday in Kano wreaked havoc as it submerged some homes at Kundila Housing Estate opposite the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Zaria Road.

Other houses within the metropolis were also reported to have been submerged by flood, causing high level of destruction. Residents of Kundila Housing Estate, who were the worst hit by the flood, had a hectic time channelling out water from their homes, as well as battling lives, particularly children, some whom were at home when the rain started.

According to a resident of the estate, Mustapha Haruna, the downpour imposed hardship on the residents, as many houses were submerged. He said few were only able to salvage some of their precious property. Mustapha said, “We spent a lot more time in the rain salvaging our property. Such downpour has never been experienced in this area in the last 35 years.’’
