Kano LG poll records low turnout, peaceful

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state casting his vote, during the election of 44 Local Government Chairmen in Kano yesterday.Kano people on Saturday went to the poll to elect those who will pilot the affairs of the third tier of government.Security was tight in all the polling units of the 484 wards of the 44 councils of the state, as the people cast their ballots.

The Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, voted at Magwan Primary School polling centre in Nassarawa local government area. The deputy governor, who was accompanied by his wife, hailed the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission “for ensuring that the election was free, fair and transparent.”He commended the election observers, media, security agencies and other stakeholders for playing vital roles that made the election a success.
