A group of civil society organisations had faulted the nomination of five of the new RECs for allegedly being partisan and of questionable past.

The nominees were confirmed despite petitions against some of the nominees accusing them of being partisan and card-carrying members of the party.

The five nominees reappointed are Ibrahim Abdullahi ; Obo Effanga ; Umar Ibrahim ; Agboke Olaleke ; and Samuel Egwu . They said Muhammad Bashir, the nominee from Sokoto State, was a governorship aspirant under the All Progressive Congress in the 2015 elections cycle; Sylvia Agu, the nominee for Enugu State was believed to be the younger sister of the APC Deputy National Chairman, South-east.

The lawmaker acknowledged receipt of petitions against some of the nominees which alleged that they are either card-carrying members of political parties or have served in such capacities in the past. “The purported evidence of a membership card of one of the nominees was dated 2020 and signed by the current chairman – who was not a chairman at the time the petition stated,” he said.

What do you expect from the institution that runs errand for the presidency?

It's a matter of months before most of them become victims of what they failed to do. We will be here, retweeting all the receipts to the TL.

I don’t even see any need of having senate house in this country they are just there to help loot and borrow loan for federal government As far as I’m concerned senate and Fed house of Assembly is just “Do as I say” to the Fed Government no need having them

Lawal is a wreck.... Glad he is not coming back....

Nigeria is not headed for anything positive, not with this type of legislative setup.

Hmm, rubber stamping, Lawan's legacy as Worse Senate President ever. So now we have political class (partisan persons) amongst the top officials in the electoral institution of Nigeria. Courtesy of Buhari & Lawan.

Majority of the so called senators do not deserve to be in that supposedly revered chambers. Let us all hands be on deck to weed out so many of this misfits from the hallowed chambers
