A federal high court in Lagos has refused to hear the cases filed by Malcolm Omirhobo for appearing before the court dressed as a ”juju priest”.The lawyer had said he was exercising his fundamental rights following the recent verdict of the apex court which affirmed the wearing of hijab in schools. On Monday, the human rights lawyer appeared before Tijani Ringim, the judge, dressed the same way sparking reactions from some lawyers who argued he could not be heard. But Omirhobo argued that the constitution says otherwise and he could choose to appear that way. After listening to his argument, Ringim directed Omirhobo to address the court on why he should be heard the way he was dressed on the next adjourned date.

“You cannot address the court like this as a professional. I will adjourn your matter and you come and address the court if the rules allow you to appear in court like this,” the judge said. His second suit; FHC/L/CS/1392/2021, was against the Nigeria Army and two others.

Lots of fools here talking as if Christianity and Islam are the only religion in Nigeria. If hijab is allowed then pagan dressing is allowed too OR is the law one-sided

Nnamdi14108597 What case? It is his right!

What a brilliant lawyer! He is proving a point we are all familiar with.

Some christian's felt christianity should compete with Islam, forgotten Hijab is way of life female Muslims by Allah.

Let him dress naked we move and leave. Hijab all d way 💪💪💪

The problem here is that religion should not be the bases of any state policy or law with a country that have diverse of believes . Any policy on religion ground do not promote unity... Humanity 1st..

This lawyer has got what he is looking for and he can now institute a case of discrimination against his person based on his own faith.

Does he look like normal being? He needs medical check up.

The man is just crazy

Is that not anti his believe system. Let the system work for all. My take

The man never stop this thing? 😂 Egi_nupe_

If his problem is with the supreme court ruling on Hijab, he can also wear hijab. Nobody will stop him.

Omo the judge fit dey see am as mad man. Give him normal lawyer.

This nonsense should stop. He has taken the joke too far. It is becoming irritating. This lawyer should be disciplined by the NBA. They should stop him from disgracing the noble legal profession.

A lot of jobs have their dress code. As a civil engineer, you can't appear in sites fully draped in Agbada like a Naija politician. You won't wanna deposit/withdraw & spot the bank teller in a nursing outfit. As a lawyer, why appear in court like a juju priest?

I see a case coming up soon that will overturn that Hijah ruling by the Supreme Court. It is better the judge hear his case or he will purse a case against that judgment.

Everybody will go back to drawing board.

Omo to judge to break law

The Judge has no right to do so & needs to be penalised. The Supreme court permits one to dress according to his religion if so wishes.

Ride on Sir, we support your crusade and will not allow anyone trample on your fundamental human right to worship!

The judge has violated the lawyer fundamental human right 😂😂😂.

Nigeria is a huge canvas of theater cals. Our diversity if positively galvanized can make us the best in the world.

e don happen

The judge will have to say if his court has superior power over Supreme Court judgment that no one should be deprived of his/her religious right
