chairman of the elders’ council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, says there are plans to hold a security summit in the south-east., who is a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party board of trustees , spoke on Saturday in Owerri, Imo’s capital.He said the summit would provide the opportunity for stakeholders in the south-east to discuss solutions that would end the insecurity in the geo-political zone.

“At the meeting, the security situation of the south-east was very critically examined. Elders expressed concern over the deteriorating security, social and economic conditions in the region. The elders resolved that the solution to this problem does not lie in bloodshed.“For the first time in our history, we witnessed Igbos killing innocent Igbos for no just cause.

“The peace summit will allow the youths to air their grievances and I promise on behalf of the council of elders to resolve the problems to the best of our ability.
