Worried about the high rate of insecurity and youth restiveness in the country, the National Council of the Nigeria Boys’ Brigade (BB) has called for subventions to voluntary organisations to help instill good morals among young people.

The discontinuance of subventions by government to such organisations, the group said, has hampered activities that would help in moulding patriots, which will encourage social cohesion.

He stressed that voluntary organisations are doing so much on behalf of government in checking youth restiveness, as youths from reputable organisations like Boys’ Brigade, will not be involved in anything unethical. He urged government to support youth organisations, especially Boys’ brigade and others with funding.

According to him, non engagement of youths in productive ventures by successive governments has fueled insecurity and social ills, which has threatened national cohesion.
