With the forthcoming Saturday's governorship election, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure the impartiality of security agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Ohanaeze urged Tinubu to ensure the institution's commitment to safeguarding voters and ensuring that the votes of Imo people count on Saturday.

The body also called on the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to shelve its planned nationwide strike scheduled for Wednesday. A statement by factional Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, asked Governor Uzodinma and the NLC President, Joe Ajaero to ensure peace in Imo State, stressing that the recent violence may lead to voter apathy during Saturday's election.

The recent violence in Imo State has raised concerns about potential voter apathy and low turnout during the upcoming elections. 'We urge all Imolites, both citizens and residents, to exercise their civic rights and participate in the electoral process by voting according to their conscience and choice. 'The destiny and future of Imo State lie in the hands of its people.
