The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) says it is on high alert and will identify, arrest and prevent foreigners from participating in the forthcoming 2023 elections..

As Nigeria gets set to shut her borders ahead of the coming general elections, the Nigeria Immigration Service, , has confiscated 6, 216 identity documents including Nigerian voters card and National Identity Card, issued by the National Identify Management Commission, .

Briefing the media on preparations, the CG said that non-Nigerians are not permitted to vote hence the agency is taking necessary measures to ensure the apprehension and eased out of the country to the prevention of such individuals from voting during the polls. To this end, “I also use this opportunity to commend the various Command Comptrollers who eased out irregular migrants in their commands as a result of various Immigration offences.
