The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has approved the promotion of 82,779 junior officers to the next ranks.
The list comprises 56,779 Sergeants to Inspector, 17,569 Corporal to Sergeants, and 8,431 Constables to Corporal.The spokesman said the promotion was part of ongoing efforts at boosting the morale of the workforce and for greater efficiency.Sixteen who died got special posthumous promotion; 70 others injured were also lifted.He enjoined them to continue to carry out their duties diligently, in conformity with best practices and respect for citizens’ rights.
It is commendable, however it serves no value to the dead men bearing in mind that they died a needless death as a result of our systematic failure in accountability over the years. RIP
