Sydney-based Nigeria professional boxer, Nestor Bolum, is aiming to end the boxing career of Luke Martin, as they clash today in a six-round contest in Australia. The fight will hold at Ravesby Workers’ Club, 2B Bret Street, NSW 2212 in Sydney.

Nestor Bolum of Nigeria exchanging punches with Akhil Kumar of India in the men’s Bantamweight 54 kg semifinal bout at Melbourne Exhibition Centre during 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The Delta State-born Bolum, who retired after his last fight in November 2019, is using today’s fight against Martin as comeback to prepare for a world title shot next year. Speaking with The Guardian, yesterday, shortly after the official weigh-in, Bolum, an ex-Airforce officer, said: “I have one thing, which Martin doesn’t have. I have the Anointing of God in me. It is my time and no one can stop me. I thank God for giving me the opportunity once again.”

While the Nigerian boxer, Bolum, weighed 56.9kg yesterday, his opponent, Martin, weighed 56.6kg in featherweight category. “They recommended that it is good and tough,” he said. “I will love to thank my Father in the Lord, Dr. Theo Ajadi, for his tremendous support. My special thank also goes to my coach and manager, George Tannous. He is such a great man. I also appreciate Johnny Tannous and Bernard Tannous of IWC Rentals Sydney for their tremendous support. Dr. Pierre of Primary Eye Sydney and Rhino Mouthguard Sydney have also given me tremendous support.
