ICYMI: How counterpart funding negotiation stalled FG, Siemens power deal | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

Negotiation appeared to have been stalled for a while with a section of the media speculating that the process was affected by the death of the former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

The award letters were signed last week by Siemens Energy Nigeria and the Federal Government. The Federal Government and Siemens had, in July 2019, signed a Letter of Agreement on the Nigerian Electrification Roadmap after the President and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel met on August 31, 2018, in Abuja.

It is expected that the deal would ensure 105 substations are upgraded, 70 new substations built, 35 power transformers manufactured and installed, 3,765 distribution transformers installed and 5,109km distribution lines built. DisCos, the Transmission Company of Nigeria and the Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission were part of sessions on the project.
