Ogunjimi Cultural Group from Osogbo, Osun state has emerged as the winner of the second edition of the annual Ayangalu Drum Festival and won a sum of N1 million.
Also at the grand finale of the festival sponsored by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi held in Ile-Ife, Ayangbayi Bata came second and got a sum of N500,000, while Esin Oye Cultural group from Ile-Ife came 3rd and went away with a sum of N250,000 cash prize. Oba Ogunwusi, who dazzled the audience at the grand finale of the festival when he displayed his drumming skills, in his remarks described drum as a vital tool for communicating peaceful coexistence globally.
A statement by Ooni media aide, Moses Olafare, on Friday quoted Oba Ogunwusi as further saying, “Our ancestors used drum majorly for communication, for it goes beyond entertainment and till date, our culture uses drum for communication and as a vital tool for preaching peace and harmony.
