The exercise, according to LASTMA, followed “the expiration of notices served on owners of illegal shanties, kiosks, containerised shops and abandoned trailers” in the area.

The General Manager, LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, disclosed, in a statement on Monday, that the clean-up exercise, which began over the weekend with the demolition of several illegal shanties, kiosks, containerised shops, towing of abandoned trailers and dismantling of illegal garages, would last for seven days.

Oreagba said the demolished structures around the Apapa Port did not only constitute health and safety risks but also served as a haven for criminals.
