According to Sulaiman Idris, the governor's spokesperson, the decision, made during the state's 19th Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Gusau, aims to address the growing need for tertiary medical services in the state. Idris stated that the hospital has long suffered from disrepair and inadequate medical equipment, forcing patients to seek critical medical services in neighbouring states like Sokoto or Kaduna.
“As a result, patients have had to travel to Sokoto or Kaduna for kidney dialysis and other critical medical tests. “As part of the hospital’s remodelling plan, new structures and medical facilities will be built, machines will be installed and end-user training will be provided to make the Specialist Hospital a modern and standard facility that will provide quality healthcare services to the people of the state. “During the council meeting, several other crucial matters were also discussed.
