No fewer than 29 goats, three sheep, 14 slaughtered goats and meat carcass of about 30 kilogrammes were on Wednesday confiscated by the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance team of the Lagos State Government at the New Alade Market in the Oregun area.The enforcement agency also dislodged two illegal sheep and goat slaughter slabs located at the Alade Market and Idi Ogbo, Eleko, Ibeju Lekki.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, said the exercise was in furtherance of the state’s sanitisation and reform of the red meat value chain. Olusanya stated that the over 1.5 tonne of meat carcass recently confiscated at the Idi Ogbo had been donated to the Bab-Es-Salam Home and Correctional Home for Boys, Oregun, adding that the meat carcass worth 30kg confiscated on Wednesday had been donated to the Little Saints Orphanage, Abule Egba, after it was confirmed fit for consumption.
