The police and Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) have swooped on some Chinese and Nigerians manufacturing electrical cables and copper rods illegally. The Chinese and Nigerian nationals were accused of manufacturing the products without certification and under the protection of some military personnel. According to Joy Online, the seven Chinese and Nigerians were picked up at their manufacturing site at Bueko, in Tsopoli, a town in the Greater Accra Region, and handed over to the Police after GSA had intelligence of their illegality.

The team also discovered that all the products had logos of GSA, suggesting they had the right government approval and had the inscription ‘Made in Turkey, China, and Nigeria,’ also suggesting that they had been approved for the Ghanaian market.According to the report, to obtain approval to manufacture such products, one would notify the GSA about the manufacturing activities and put in an application for processes and final approval.
