Get Ready For Massive Protests Against Fuel Subsidy – Socialist Party Urges Nigerian Workers Unions, NLC, TUC To Reject Anti-People PolicyThis was said in a press release issued by the SPN on Tuesday,

in which it blamed Tinubu for being indifferent to the potential ramifications of the sudden removal of the subsidy to ordinary Nigerians, adding that the action was not ultimately for the interest of the people. The Socialist Party of Nigeria has urged the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress to immediately begin a massive protest over the sudden removal of fuel subsidy by the newly inaugurated government of Bola Tinubu.

“These two anti-people policies will have further devastating consequences for already poor living standards of working people. Besides, the cost of production and service will go up astronomically while many small and medium businesses will be affected by its attendant consequence of higher inflation and job losses.

“Tinubu also stated that the savings from subsidy removal or increment in the price of petrol will be invested in infrastructure, healthcare, education and to mitigate the hardship created. This is a lie. The ordinary people will not derive any meaningful benefit from the removal of petrol subsidy. The savings from the removal of subsidies on diesel and kerosene were never invested to mitigate the hardship created nor was there any benefit from that accrued to working people.
