Gateway United have condemned the assault on match officials by miscreants after their matchday 18 clash against Ikorodu City FC. The Abeokuta -based club disclosed this in a statement on their X handle. According to reports, the referees in charge of the game were assaulted by miscreants at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta on Saturday. Ikorodu City held Gateway United to a goalless draw in the game.

The statement reads: 'Gateway United FC frowned at the regrettably incident involving the assault on the referee following our NNL matchday 18 fixture with Ikorodu City by miscreants unknown to the club,' 'We condemned such behaviour in strongest and dissociate our club from such irresponsible and calculated behaviour targeted to undermine our long standing values and culture of discipline on and off the pitch.
