promised to foster youth inclusion through a number of developmental policies and programmes. How far has the administration redeemed its pledges?highlights the manifestos and how the President has fulfilled youth expectations.

Bubbling with great energy, zest and spirit of adventure, many youths who have always clamoured for increased participation in politics and governance, were swayed by propaganda and outright falsehood of Tinubu’s opponents. But having won the election, Tinubu has shocked many by the age profile of many of his appointees. From the federal cabinet to special advisers to heads of Ministries, Departmens and Agencies , the president has appointed an army of young people aged between 30 and 45. It is even possible that his governing team may be one of the youngest to be assembled by any Nigerian president.

“Youth will not be exploited to do the biddingof government. Instead, our administrationwill work with and for the youth, providing them with a platform that they may fulfil their greatest aspirations. Emphasising the import of youth entrepreneurship and innovation, the president promised to facilitate easy access to credit.

He said the National Youth Service Scheme would be strengthened in a way that will facilitate job matching whereby participants will enter the private sector during their service years and employers will be motivated by some incentives to retain corps members at the end of their service. A lot of efforts has been made to implement the manifestos. Many youths made the ministerial list, including Bosun Tijani , Beta Edu , Tunji Ojo , Jemila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande .

Of importance is the conditional grant scheme. Under tge scheme, nano businesses across the 774 local government areas are given N50,000 each. President Tinubu is also motivating and mobilising the private sector to boost job creation. At the meeting with Mastercard Foundation, he applauded the Foundation’s initiative’s of planning to create 10 million jobs for youths, pointing out that it aligned with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
