A group, the Ashake Foundation, with the support of Leap Africa, Nigeria Youth Future Funds, MacArthur Foundation and Ford Foundation has announced its commitment to encourage women to participate in the 2023 general election.

Founder, Ashake Foundation, Adegbile Mayowa , members of staff, Unekwu Luchia, Charles Erike-Etchie, Hope Ibeh, Esther Oludare and Fehintola Simeon-Mukoro at its event to sensitise women on their rights to vote.

“It is fundamental for women to have a voice in the political processes, which will shape the nation’s future. “Women have the power to make a significant impact on the outcome of the 2023 elections. By casting their votes, they can help bring about real change and make their voices heard on issues that matter to them, such as education, health and economic empowerment,” she said.

“Our goal is to educate them about the election and assist them in overcoming any barriers that might prevent them from participating in the election. Women will also be assisted in getting to the polls by the organisation by providing transportation and childcare services.
