The Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN) has stressed the need for youths and religious leaders to adopt a non-violent communication approach in dealing

Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Country Director of GPFN, while speaking during a programme tagged: “One Family Under God Campaign with Abuja Youths” in Abuja, regretted that Nigerian youths, religious leaders, teachers among others have imbibed and accepted the culture of a violent language communication approach as an acceptable norm, saying that it is doing more damage to the corporate existence of the country.

Rev. Hayab opined that the moment Nigerians adopted acceptable and non-violent ways of communication of talking to one another, things would begin to change in a positive direction and ensure peaceful coexistence. He observed that where siblings can no longer talk to one another, ditto husband and wife unless they use violent communication methods or force is dangerous to the development of the society.

He also lamented, “We use force for everything, security agencies, who guard our leaders also apply force. This is a kind of culture that is gradually destroying our country when people cannot communicate as friends.”
