This incident was also confirmed by the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Adamu Shehu.

An early morning fire has engulfed the National Open University of Nigeria's structure in Dutse, Jigawa State.

It was learnt that the fire which started in early hours of Saturday consumed office furniture and other valuable items before the state fire service and other security agencies came to quench the fire which raged for an hour. Shehu said the inferno had gutted the NOUN office which is on the fourth floor of the Federal secretariat in Dutse. The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to him.

He also noted that the efforts of security agencies helped prevent the spread of the flame to other parts of the secretariat complex.
