The Federal Government injects over $1 billion (about N500 billion) into the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) yearly for positive change in the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable in the country.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja while flagging off a programme aimed at training a total of 1,850 youths from across the country on Point-of-Sale business.

She noted that the gesture was part of the Buhari administration’s desire to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years. PERL-ECP, a five-year governance programme funded by the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office to encourage growth and decrease poverty, noted that the figures were worrisome.

Stakeholders from the academia, media and the business community sought a tax policy that will be favourable to all tiers of government, rather than the current trend that favours the Federal Government.

Only in the North

500b industrial and entrepreneur projects/schemes will catapult Nigeria to an enviable height in world economic index’s and take every poor skilled Nigerian out of poverty within 5 years. I believe the minister is not sincere and should not be taken serious.

This woman will not make heaven

In the meanwhile, keep them poor and stupid! Despite 30% of earth's mineral resources in Africa, we live on yearly $Billion dollar aid and charity. Yet you wonder why those who have nothing else to lose revolt. Now, who is the idiot?

How?

'On poor vulnerable Nigerians'? Where at? Minister, are you sure of what you're saying? Convince me!

Sadiatu oleeeee

Nigeria population is not up to 1 billion... Lie lie government Bunch of PEN-ROBBERS

It's an administration that will leave the ordinary Nigerian in a worse condition than he was when the administration assumed power. Poverty is increasing and deepening. The population is increasing too rapidly for the administration's half-hearted efforts to be effective.

The officials of the government chopped it without even considering the poor..Just like the palliative case
