Adamu Adamu, minister of education, said this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after a meeting of the federal executive council .Adamu said the federal government understands that implementation will be challenging, adding that the mother tongue will be combined with English from junior secondary school level.“A memo on national policy was approved by the council. So, Nigeria now has a national language policy and the details will be given later by the ministry,” he said.

Very good policy...it was introduced by the erudite Prof Babs Fafunwa in 1976 or there about...my primary school was used as a pilot to the scheme...it helps in understanding subjects better
Children that r not native to d language area would they b out of school until they learn. No job advert ever requires applicant that can speak only dialect. Learn work language ie English, Mandarin French asap d world is a village don't b handicap by ur ethnic bias. No 1 cares

Good policy, it's a good initiative. Most Asia countries use their mother tongue to teach. They will understand the topics better while equally learning English language separately.
