He added, “Tax is a fiscal tool and fiscal tools are used to stimulate economic activities or discourage certain harmful or inappropriate economic activities.
He noted that tax incentives were necessary to encourage investment and the establishment of some pioneer businesses. He said, “The issue here is how transparent it is. The problem we have is who and who are given the tax waivers and how transparent they are. It is good to give tax waivers, especially to pioneer industries to enable them to start.”
He further questioned why the small and medium-scale businesses, which were the real job creators in the economy, were not provided with waivers. “However, incentives must be properly designed and targeted to be meaningful while the government must periodically review incentive schemes to ensure they are still relevant and provide value for money. For instance, the N16tn tax for the last three years includes VAT exemption on basic food items which is necessary given the level of poverty and rising food inflation.”

Dangote is FG and FG is Dangote..... Shame on any students campaigning for apc 2023. Buhari can't give ASUU whatever they want? But waive ₦16tn for Dangote, FG service debt? Terrible govt.
I'm not surprised Nigeria is still the way it is
Nigeria we hail thee! Imagine N16tn waiver to a single Company while the ordinary petty traders are being strangulated with multiple taxes. This is criminal.
This country sef,,, we’ve been shouting Nigeria is broke and we need to keep taking loans, and still they’re granting 16trn waiver to the dangotes. Lol… funny country I tell you.
Dangote is where the elites keep thier money.
FG helping billionaires to remain billionaires. Its well!
God when. I need just 10million waiver
Very unnecessary since it doesn't translate to immediate relief to the common man. Government should collect the tax and use it appropriately.
Rob the poor to compensate the rich. Capitalism.
Dangote's tax waiver is understandable, he built the Apapa-Oshodi-Gbagada road. That of Honeywell I don't get it.
Politicians
