The federal government had suspended all sporting activities in March, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that led to shutdown

Amidst growing calls by sports enthusiasts, sportsmen and women for the ban to be lifted on contact sports, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has raised the hope of critical parties for its resumption.

The federal government had suspended all sporting activities in March, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that led to the shutdown of sporting activities worldwide, to curtail the spread of the virus. ‘The Ministry has done all that’s necessary and required, especially with regard to the COVID-19 protocols.

There are indications that announcement for the resumption of contact sports would likely be made sooner than expected.
