The minister, humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Hon. Sadiya Umar Farouq, launched the distribution in Katsina.

She said the gesture was part of the numerous interventions the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was undertaking towards attaining the 10 years target of getting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

The minister added that the ministry was implementing four major programmes that have direct bearing and impact on the vulnerable people including youths in the society. She said, “We’ve been in Katsina since morning, we went to Daura and commissioned some projects on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, we also returned to Katsina and commissioned a clinic and library. We’ve handed some food and relief items to the state government.

“And we are here in this hall to give out N20,000 grants to indigenes of Katsina State to start businesses of their own or add to their capital.” She noted that Katsina had about 50,000 Npower beneficiaries, with one million pupils being fed in the school feeding programme, 50,000 residents enrolled in the GIP programme and about 100,000 enjoying the conditional cash programmes in the state.
