While the group led by former Governor Ayodele Fayose on Thursday inaugurated members of the PDP ward EXCO in 155 out of the 177 wards in Ekiti State with the swearing-in supervised by a notary public, Niyi Idowu, the Senator Biodun Olujimi-led group dismissed the swearing-in as faulty and illegal.
Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who claimed the directive followed the NWC approval of the ward congresses held in the state, said the new officers had assumed office for a tenure of four years in accordance with the party’s constitution. Oguntuwase, who appealed for calm “until by constitutional means, everything is resolved”, said, “The notary public contracted to do the swearing-in is not known to the party as I did not mandate anybody to get him to work for us.
The disagreement came as the Ado-Ekiti Division of the Federal High Court on Thursday refused a relief sought by the Olujimi group represented by Mr Oladimeji Olalekan, seeking an interim order of the court restraining the PDP from accepting the results of Ekiti PDP ward congresses.
Imagine you're talking about swearing-in at this social distancing era. Even with the current situation in our shores, this discussion shouldn't have come up. May God heal our land!
Is this political rat chasing synonymous or necessity to the hungry and depressed population in search of a true leader in the midst of coronavirus pandemic?
