The faction in its resolution earlieraccused the governor of supporting the re-election of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, at the detriment of the APC flagbearer in the state.
The controversial suspension was done a day after some leaders of the APC in Ekiti, including Babafemi Ojudu, political adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, were suspended by the Ekiti APC, for allegedly refusing to withdraw suits against the party as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. In its reaction to the controversy, the APC headquarters made no comment on the suspension of the presidential aide and about a dozen others.
