The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the incident, stated that officers from the Nsukka Urban Police Division had been dispatched to the scene and were currently handling the situation.
The deceased, who was residing at Umudiaka in the same local government area with his family, was said to have had a domestic fracas with his immediate family on Sunday morning over a yet-to-be-identified issue and later killed himself in the night. According to the neighbours, “he strangled his younger sister to the point that blood was coming out from her ears and nostrils. He also kept a pestle by his side. However, due to the intervention of the neighbourhood watch members, who rushed to the scene, the girl was rescued. She is now hospitalised in a hospital in Nsukka metropolis.”
Elder brother to the deceased, Silas Eze, said his late brother had been behaving abnormally before he took his life.
