Falana sues Chief Judge for alleged failure to perform statutory role

A Nigerian Lawyer, Femi Falana, has filed a suit against the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abdul Kafarati, for allegedly failing to appoint justices to conduct a monthly inspection of detention facilities of anti-graft agencies.

The plaintiff added that on June 29, 2019, he wrote a reminder to the defendant advising him to comply with the said statutory obligation. Mr Falana said in spite of the several cases of arbitrary detention at the various detention centres, Mr Kafarati has not complied with the statutory provision.
