A Texas, United States-based Nigerian econometric and social psychologist, Dr. Owen Hercules, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against extending the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, beyond the statutory February 1, 2021, under the guise of reforming the force in the wake of the ongoing #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
He urged Buhari to err on the side of the law by abiding with relevant provisions of the recently signed Nigeria Police Force Bill 2020. The letter, which was obtained by The Guardian, read in part: “Our dear President, you just signed the Nigeria Police Force Bill, 2020 into law. Sir, with due respect, how about changing the narrative?”
