The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has been putting pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to proscribe the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for allegedly failing to obey the court ruling directing lecturers to call off their ongoing strike. ASUU has been on strike since February 14 to press home their demand for improved funding for universities, and a review of salaries for lecturers, among other issues. Several meetings between ASUU and the federal government have ended in a deadlock.

EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Labour Minister, Ngige Pressures President Buhari To Ban Striking University Lecturers’ Association, ASUUSeveral meetings between ASUU and the federal government have ended in a deadlock.

On September 21, the court granted the government’s application for an interlocutory injunction to restrain ASUU from continuing with the strike pending the determination of the substantive suit. Meanwhile, SaharaReporters gathered that the Court of Appeal is yet to make a copy of its judgement ordering ASUU to call off its ongoing nationwide strike.

“It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division last Friday mandated the union to first comply with the interlocutory ruling of the National industrial Court and thereafter file a Notice of Appeal within 7 days of the granting of the application for leave to appeal. The Senior Advocate disclosed on Monday in Lagos at the launch of a book titled ‘Breaking Coconut With Your Head’, authored by Lanre Arogundade.

It's just a matter of time. Labour unions are protected by laws, you cannot rob people of their rights and think what you are doing is right. This criminal parading himself as a minister will go to jail at the appointed time. Watch and see!

He is working for Peter Obi in Buhari government and as usual the government does not care.

Tinubu is a bad products and he wants to foss himself to Nigerian's

Nonsense 😅 man

Short people too de worry oooo

It hightime u rest nigga

Fuck u an buhari

No day I went through Mr. Labour minister's comments, that won't make me laugh... Of course square peg in the round hole....

They are trying to solve problem and he is creating additional problems. Very soon the other unions will start their own strike

This the same man that people believed he put on the light that Peter Obi later build on it as formal Anambara state governor, be for he became the Apc labour minister,

I think I'm the only one that I understands what Ngige is doing. He's helping to rubbish APC Government. 😂😂

It's impossible 🙅 where is the human right? Ngige is wasting his time.

This man has a hidden agenda to this government I don't why he is still in government?

Mr ngigi I'm sure your children don't even live in Nigeria, But karma is a bitch pls don't forget.

May Almighty God rid Nigeria of such leaders? Ameen

See his own face like Ban

Where is your conga abi Congo u registered the other day? Is that one not sufficient for you? Ban ASUU my foot. Useless old men.

Oga go and answer the question you evil party has been asking you

You cant ban an association

You're a Minister of nothing. You handle the strike issue like your family matter and worsened everything; bring the teaches of lawyers and judges before their students and useless yourself. History will judge this diaster called APA and Ngigi

This man has a latent plan against the Gov't. His attitude cannot be as a result of his love for the presidency nor for the APC party. I'm pretty sure if he still has kids in Nig. University as undergraduates, he wouldn't have tried those inconsiderate moves! He's up to something

I have zero respect for this yeye man

This okija man

Is it buhari that created the body? They have no right whatsoever to do so. They want to politicalize the union by installing their toy they can easily control

Dis one has always been unfortunate rite from time, very wicked man. U r getting ur salary and denying others

Someone tell him , it’s a civilian government in Nigeria , not a military junta .

But I thought this man resigned to pursue his elusive presidential ambition? Why is he still engaged in labour issues?

This man will use is personal ego to spoil Nigeria education before he retire..cus of his personal ego the strike still dragging 😏

Na busy body dey worry Ngige.

It remain 5 months for him he will be back home.. They karma will tell on him

This useless man is trying to ruin settled matter, we understand your move but it will not work...

Ngige is biting more than he can chew. Banning ASUU is banning due process. Ngige will come and go, university unions will continue to stay.

Give them time the law allows 7 to 14 days before taking action you are in a hurry to jeopardize the effort of those barristers come to think of it they will be having meetings tomorrow about it patience is a virtue be calming down honourable minister

Willing tools as usual
