A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State and former member of the National Assembly, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has made a clarion call for gender equality in politics. Nwaogu expressed her views while featuring on the Magic FM political affairs programme 'Weekend Dialogue,' monitored by DAILY POST on Saturday. She regretted the challenges hindering women in politics but was hopeful for a better future for the female gender.
The ex-lawmaker maintained that women have the cognitive experience and adequate managerial skills to handle any elective positions, urging the electorate to give the female gender a chance, as that is the only way to ascertain their leadership qualities. While offering solutions to these challenges, Senator Nwaogu said that organizing conferences, seminars, and encouraging active involvement of women in politics, despite the outcome of the 2023 election results, remains key.
