Executive Director of the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), Dr. Godwin Uyi Ojo, yesterday, decried delay by African countries to embrace renewable energy sources.

He said renewable energy would enable the continent to catch up with the global cleaner energy trend, as against their continued reliance on fossil fuels.

He stressed that it was important for African countries, especially Nigeria to divest from fossil fuels to renewable energy. IN another development, pirates, yesterday, abducted five persons on the Bonny high sea, close to the Federal Ocean Terminal in Onne, Rivers State. He told The Guardian that the victims boarded an outboard engine powered speedboat that carries 10 passengers and that it was on its way to Port Harcourt, when the incident happened.
