Brazilia’s Rivaldo has reacted to midfielder Philippe Coutinho’s loan move from Barcelona to Aston Villa.Aston Villa confirmed the signing of Coutinho on loan on Friday and the midfielder is expected to stay at the club till the end of the season.

“He wasn’t lucky at the club [Barcelona] so returning to the Premier League to sign for Aston Villa and his former teammate Steven Gerrard could be crucial for him, especially in a World Cup year,” Rivaldo told Betfair via Metro. “His quality is undeniable and if he recovers his confidence he could still get a place in the Brazil World Cup squad as Tite likes him and will always keep an eye on him.

“So, the move to Villa Park is good news that might reopen the doors in a league in which he played the best football of his career.”
