EndSARS: Six in 10 Nigerians supported recent protests — Report

“In addition, 77 percent of Nigerians do not believe that the newly established Special Weapons and Tactics unit will put an end to incidence of police brutality. Nigerians therefore urged the authorities to promote good governance and undertake a comprehensive reform of the Nigeria Police Force.”“Respondents were asked if they had personally experienced any form of police brutality in the last five years.

“Conversely, the 35 percent who did not support the #EndSARS protests stated the following reasons: the protest was hijacked by thugs and hoodlums , SARS had been helpful in curbing robbery and violent crimes , and SARS had already been disbanded .”“The poll also sought to capture the views of Nigerians on the newly established Special Weapons and Tactics Unit which serves as a replacement for the disbanded SARS Unit.

“Further disaggregation of the data revealed that there were more young citizens aged between 18 and 35 years who were of the opinion that it was too early to tell whether or not SWAT will eschew police brutality in its operations. Again, there were more citizens resident in southern Nigeria who passed a negative judgement on SWAT, much more than citizens in northern Nigeria .

I want to believe it is higher please like 8/10 for. The few blind and selfish people are the ones that were against the good that was started by the EndSARS Protesters and because they are benefiting from the Government in one way or the other.

It's 10 out of 10

.... Not true, is actually ten in 10, the frustration in the land is unbearable, people had to vent their anger out by joining the protest. The protest is against all these extortion institutions-Custom, agberos,VIO,LASTMA,FRSC and the father of them all POLICE EndSARS

Why are you giving us false information? It’s obvious you don’t know that 9 out of 10 Nigerians love EndSARS and supports it. If it wasn’t for the paid thugs that came to disrupt the peaceful protest by now we would have gotten the 36 states protesting. EndBadGovernment.

Not true, please show us how you arrive at your judgement

Not true

Lie lie.

Probably because they might have been or known actual victims of police brutality. In saner climes, the protests would have triggered ground work on police reforms but alas here we are still demanding to see CCTV footages of what actually happened Lekki toll gate on 20-10-2020.

How do you come about the figures? The place I live the case is different; 1 out of ten residents is in support of the movement.

ayemojubar The other 4 must be politicians, police and their chidren

Lol , how was the poll done?

Where? I hope in Lagos

That is not true the only Nigerians who did not support the EndSARS protest are the politicians and how many are they in number so do your calculation.

Be deceiving yourself! From a poll of 1,114 people.

Make we just manage the stat like dat first.

I hail doz people wey dey chest bullet that time o

I think it's higher than that

Wrong analysis. Ten in Ten Nigerians supported EndSARS

Our voice must reveberate

We are in support of this move ! Endhunger Endunemployment Endunlimitedsuffering

#EndSARS: South East governors urge youth to embrace peaceSouth East leaders met in Enugu over the disturbances resulting from the EndSARS protest This statement 'embrace peace' gives us a bad label. Is it not the government who should embrace peace? How have youths been violent? Serve Justice to the people and Peace will be natural outcome it needs no begging or appeal. Can all the governors also urge the federal government to do a total reform of Nigeria and reform all jumbo monies in all political spheres
