Day after day, the campaign against police brutality in Nigeria continues to gain strong momentum.
In Lagos State, the entrance to the governor’s office beside Lagos State House of Assembly was the meeting point for protesters who had sleepless nights during the weekend, calling for an end to police brutality.Their demands looked to be met on Sunday after the inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu announced the dissolution of the controversial Special Anti Robbery Squad of the police. Their mission was, however, far from the finish.
They continued to chant ‘End SARS’ with many carrying placards with ‘stop the killing, end SARS, stop police brutality. Although the governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike barred the demonstration on Monday, Port Harcourt became the point of attention on Tuesday when protesters defied the governor’s order.
