Electricity Tariff Hike:,Tcn

Three electricity distribution companies have blamed Transmission Company of Nigeria for not supplying 20-hour power customers on Band A feeders amid the recent astronomical tariff increase. Abuja, Benin, and Kano electricity distribution companies disclosed this in separate notices on Monday.

The development comes despite the hike in electricity tariff for Band A electricity customers. Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a tariff increase on Tuesday last week for Band A customers who get at least 20 hours of power supply.

said the hike affected only Band A customers getting a 20-hour power supply. However, the DisCos, on their various social media platforms, appealed to the customers in Band A, seeking their understanding of their failure to meet the required minimum service level. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company said the prolonged power outage being experienced in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory was due to a technical fault at the Gwagwalada Transmission Station, owned by the TCN.
