A former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Tuesday, gave reasons why many Nigerians are not convinced with the recent hike in electricity tariff by the Federal Government.According to him, many Nigerians are not convinced by the government’s s explanation over the electricity tariff hike because the government is “thinking of it from a consumption perspective”.

Sanusi said, “On tariff use and compensation, the government is not having that conversation in a manner that convinces people. “Look at how much money you can make. There is a difference between not earning a thing and not earning something, between extreme poverty and rising above the poverty line. The former emir also urged the federal and state governments to ensure a link between infrastructural and economic development.

It like being in prison, you enjoying a good movie & suddenly light out. You wandering why frustration level is high in Nigeria. Its bcus people can't relax at the end of workday. Then the light comes back on, after the movie ended, you choose another movie, the light out again.

The first issue is hiking double tariffs for something you cannot provide on a regular basis and predictable. If a villager pay N100/ kW but most of the time waiting on electricity to be ON, it becomes a negative trading at a loss of --N200 per kW.

We can’t be convinced at all this would guarantee constant power supply
