Vehicles and motorbikes were on Tuesday impounded in their numbers from violators of the restriction order on movement in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, by a combined team of security agents.

The state police command also said those arrested for violating the order would be prosecuted based on the severity of the offence they committed.

Fayemi had on Sunday announced a total lock down of the state with full restriction of intra and inter-state human and vehicular movements effective from 11.59pm on Monday. The security personnel mounted barricades at all the entry points, highways and as well major junctions just as shops in the metropolis were under lock and key except for banks, medicine stores and few sellers of essential goods and commodities exempted by the government from total shutdown order were allowed to ply their trades at the markets.

Abutu praised the security agencies for being civil and professional in the way they handled the enforcement.
