Muslim faithful in Ilorin on Sunday complied with the directives of the Kwara State government and the Emir of Ilorin asking them to pray at home and observe the two obligatory Rakat prayers marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan fast.

The governor on Saturday through his spokesman Rafiu Ajakaye, in a statement in Ilorin reminded Muslims that the ban on large social and religious gatherings was still in force and would remain till further notice. DAILY POST reports, however, that while Muslims adhered to the directives of the two prominent citizens of the state on the Eid al-Fitr prayers, the majority of traders and buyers who flooded the major markets in the state capital to stock up on food disregarded the face mask and social distancing rules.

Okada riders who also had a field day carried more than one or two persons and security operatives were unable to enforce compliance of safety protocols as stipulated by the government.
