striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has charged his teammates to be at their best and put up a better performance in their second Group D game against Sudan at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Eagles are billed to face the Falcons of Jediane on Saturday at the Roumde Adija Stadium, Garoua. Awoniyi got the nod ahead of fellow strikers Sadiq Umar and Peter Olayinka and did not disappoint as the three-time African champions humbled Mohamed Salah-led Egypt on Tuesday, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the all-important goal that secured the victory.

The Union Berlin striker was unlucky not to have scored as his header struck the underside of the post and bounced out in the 49th minute of the tie, but he was a constant threat to the Pharaohs with his bullish style.Speaking ahead of the game, the 24-year-old striker said despite their impressive outing against the Pharaohs, they must remain at their best when they play the Falcons of Jediane.
