Following Nigeria’s poor display in the 4-0 defeat against Portugal in Lisbon on Thursday, former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi has expressed dissatisfaction with Jose Peseiro’s ability to manage the national team.

The defeat also means that the 62-year-old coach has failed to win any of the five friendly matches played by the Eagles under his watch.

On Thursday, Peseiro adopted a 4-4-2 formation, with Calvin Bassey playing from left-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel in the right-back position and Kevin Akpoguma and William Troost-Ekong paired up in central defence. Former Club Brugge forward Amokachi, 49, won the 1994 African Nations Cup and also represented the country at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

He also helped the national U-23 side win the Olympic gold medal at the Atlanta Games in 1996, scoring in the gold medal game against Argentina. All rights reserved.
