Tersoo Kula, chief press secretary to Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, says the governor’s anti-corruption stance has led to the return of donor agencies and international non-governmental organisations to the state. The event was put together by the office of the chief press secretary, to enable ministries, departments and agencies interact with the media.

Speaking alongside Aondoaseer Viashima, director-general, Bureau for International Cooperation and Development in Benue state, Kula said although many donor agencies and INGOs left the state during previous administrations, Alia’s personality, sincerity and integrity made them return. He said the governor also sent clear signals to everyone working under him that the right thing must be done at all times, thereby curbing corruption in governance.

On his part, Viashima said the BICD was created to facilitate bilateral relations, coordination, knowledge sharing, strategic alignment as well as foster sustainable development. He said creating the bureau has started yielding fruits, as Benue has become the first state in Nigeria to subscribe to the United Nations Volunteers .He said this enables Benue indigenes to participate in recruitment at the United Nations, thereby improving peer to peer and business to business engagements.
