A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and founder of the Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, has advised critics of 700Km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway not to use the road when completed.

Politics Nigeria reports that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and some notable Nigerians have condemned the Lagos-Calabar high describing it as a “white elephant project”.But in a video shared on his X handle, the former Bayelsa senator lauded President Bola Tinubu for the initiative to construct the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

The media mogul described the project as “proof of the transformative power of visionary leadership by President Bola Tinubu.”“This highway will slash travel times, reduce transportation costs and increase access to markets and resources,” adding that the road project will be a “game changer for investors, entrepreneurs and travellers.”

While noting that the N13 trillion project will bring about economic growth, Murray-Bruce said Tinubu is “crafting a legacy of prosperity and growth,” while the highway will be a “symbol of hope for a brighter future.” He added: “This is why it is surprising that some disgruntled people are opposing this project and I would suggest that such enemies of progress should not ply the road when it is completed and stick to the old, long and treacherous routes.”However, governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Edo, and Delta states have lauded the President for initiating the construction of the coastal highway project.
