Discovery of oil and gas, Nigeria’s greatest misfortune, says Ooni of Ife vanguardngr.com vanguardnews

Ogunwusi said this late on Friday during a courtesy visit by the National Executive of Nigeria Tour Operators to the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife.

” As a nation, our biggest problem has been discovering oil; we have different tourism products rich in content which are nature based, tourism is not exhaustible but oil is. The Ooni of Ife also in his responses to requests made earlier by the leaders of the groups under NATOP assured them of his royal support.

” I will say that you all have my full support for all these programmes tabled before me today, we will work together to take Nigeria to the next level,” he said. Also, Mr Gabe Onah, Chairman, Calabar Carnival invited the Ooni to observe and participate in the activities of the forthcoming 2019 Calabar Carnival which had been slated for December.

Onah said that Cross Rivers State would be happy to have the presence of Oba Ogunwusi in the 2019 festival and equally tap from his tourism promotion involvement to actually improve its tourism brand.
