The group said the constant squabbling was hindering progress in the area. NDA, in a statement signed by its chairman, Dr. Titus Obiorah Enuebuka, and Secretary-General, Dr. Mike Oke, noted that citizens of Ndokwa Council elected the executive and legislators to lead by using resources and funds accruing to the council to address the needs of the people.
“Rather, we are seeing constant squabbling amongst the councillors and unreasonable leadership turnover as well as attempts to remove the council chairman by a group of councilors. “This has negatively affected operations of the council and residents are losing a lot to what we call rascality in government and abuse of public trust. We cannot continue to tolerate abuse of office. Power belongs to the people.
“Our preliminary assessment indicates that there might be external interference by some political leaders in NELGA,” the group noted. NDA therefore appealed to those involved to desist from such unwholesome conduct and rather mentor the councillors to perform their duties, such as passing appropriations and performing oversight.
